Andrea Kilday is an Olympic Taekwondo athlete and New Zealand’s first-ever Pacific Games gold medallist, hailing from Auckland. A 3rd Dan Black Belt and International Level 2 Coach, Andrea brings over two decades of competition and coaching experience to the sport.

She made history for New Zealand at the Pacific Games, becoming the nation’s first and only  Taekwondo gold medallist. Andrea secured her place at the Rio Olympic Games after winning gold at the Oceania Taekwondo Olympic Qualification Tournament, and also qualified for the Beijing Olympic Games, demonstrating her sustained excellence on the world stage.

In 2013, Andrea was invited to compete at the inaugural World Taekwondo Grand Prix after reaching a world ranking of 17th in the -49kg division, cementing her place among the top athletes globally in her weight class.

Throughout her career, Andrea has represented New Zealand at multiple World Championships, Grand Prix events, and major international opens, earning medals across Oceania, Commonwealth, and international tournaments. Domestically, she is one of New Zealand’s most decorated competitors, holding numerous South Island, North Island, and National Championship titles across multiple weight divisions.

As an instructor, Andrea combines her Olympic experience, technical expertise, and international coaching accreditation to develop athletes from grassroots through to high performance. Her coaching philosophy emphasizes discipline, technical precision, mental toughness, and empowering athletes particularly women and young competitors to achieve excellence both on and off the mat.
